Middle School
Mr Rodney Wiggins
2026 in the Middle School has begun with a genuine sense of enthusiasm, energy and opportunity. From camps, English classes and Science practicals to the School Fair, House Athletics Carnival and the excitement of auditions for Matilda Jr., students have embraced a wide range of experiences. Alongside these, the Year 8 and 11 Buddy program, the introduction of Wellio in Year 7, experiential learning programs and opportunities such as guest speakers and debating have provided meaningful pathways for growth.

These experiences are more than just highlights on a calendar; they are a strong foundation for learning. At the centre of this is a well-organised, committed and caring community of students and staff who support one another each day.
This shared sense of purpose has led to many moments of enjoyment, achievement and inspiration throughout the term. It also reflects our ongoing commitment to developing capable and well-rounded learners, equipped with the confidence and integrity to shape their future.
This sits closely alongside Collegiate’s focus for the term - Learning with Vision. Across the Middle School, learning has been designed to encourage curiosity, independence and collaboration, while ensuring students feel both supported and challenged in their growth.

It is often through student voice that this learning is best captured. The following poem, written by two of our Year 8 students, offers a thoughtful reflection on their Term 1 Middle School experiences and the ways in which they are beginning to see their learning with greater clarity and purpose

Learning with vision is not what's directly in front of us,
But the path leading forward
Learning begins when sight is blurry,
We fail
Each error realigning our vision
Each fumble a new path of growth
It's an unfinished artwork with an endless canvas,
Waiting to be filled
A flower slowly blooming,
Not at once
But it always blossoms
It might take seasons
Or it might take one
It's not just a school year
But a journey of learning,
Learning new interests,
Learning with vision, dare
Learning together
We all take different paths,
Learning differently
We can learn beyond what we think we know,
Horizons expand when questions are asked
We learn with vision
