This Term has also marked an important milestone with the launch of our new Strategic Plan — a vision that will guide Collegiate into the next chapter, ensuring our students continue to be inspired to learn and empowered to lead. A central focus is learning with depth and purpose.

This Term, we have explored our first Pillar, Learning with Vision. In assemblies, I shared a university experience that has stayed with me — not because it was easy, but because the expectations were high. We were required not just to complete readings, but to think deeply and contribute meaningfully. It was challenging, but transformative, and it continues to shape how I approach learning. At its heart were two simple habits: reading deeply and wrestling with ideas. In a world that encourages passive consumption, we want our students to be active thinkers — to question, test ideas, and ask “why?” and “why not?”. This is learning with vision. Over the break, I encourage students to read something that stretches them and to talk about it with others.

Looking ahead, we are beginning an exciting new chapter through the Collegiate Futures Campaign — a multi-year initiative to strengthen the environments and opportunities that shape our students’ learning. Early priorities include our Creative Arts Precinct and Junior School play spaces, with more details to come.

In Term 2, I will meet with a small number of parents, alongside Board members and staff, to share more and hear reflections. If you would value being part of these early conversations, I would be pleased to hear from you via Viv Marlow (vivienne.marlow@collegiate.tas.edu.au).

Thank you again for your continued support, and I wish all families a restful and enjoyable break.
