Principal's Message

Mrs Kylie Bryant - Principal

Like always, it has been a busy start to the year, with lots of things happening. Our recent swimming carnival was a fantastic day filled with incredible school house spirit and enthusiasm, despite the extremely hot weather. We were thrilled to see so many students giving their best efforts in the pool and having a go. Ashley in Year 5 had a record-breaking 50m freestyle swim that truly highlights her dedication and skill. A big thank you to the many parent helpers whose support made the event run smoothly, we couldn’t do it without you! The excitement and participation from all our competitors made the day memorable. We are looking into building on the number of students competing by investigating the possibility of a swim school in the future. Please keep a lookout for an Expression of Interest Form coming out via School Bytes soon.

Last week we held our Year 6 Induction Assembly, a highlight for our eldest students and their families. Our leadership program is one that ensures that all students get an opportunity to lead in their final year of primary school in an area that they show talent or interest. On Thursday I spoke to the entire school on what it means to be a leader, the importance of the role they play as leaders in our school and how they need to embrace this opportunity. I look forward to seeing the amazing things they will achieve this year. Leadership does not just begin in Year 6, it is a skill we need to foster from a young age and provide opportunities for students to build confidence, be role models, have a voice and dare to lead their peers to create and support positive outcomes for our entire school.

In 2026, we will continue to have our SRC, and we will also introduce two new initiatives:

  • Year 2 Sporting House Leaders
  • An expression of interest process for our Year 6 students to lead a Genius Hour group in their chosen field of talent

Stay tuned for more information about these new initiatives

Strong parent-school relationships are vital to creating a supportive and enriching learning environment for students. When parents and educators work together as partners, it fosters better communication, mutual understanding, and shared goals for student success. These partnerships help ensure that students receive consistent encouragement both at home and at school, which can boost their confidence, motivation, and overall wellbeing. Additionally, engaged parents contribute valuable insights and support that enhance school programs and community spirit. This year, a major focus will be on strengthening our connections across the community and providing more opportunities for parents and carers to #getinvolved@roselea. We aim to build this in a number of ways, starting this week with Meet the Teacher sessions, the introduction of Community Connectors, the roll out of Seesaw for all students K-6 with regular updates and the first P&C event for the year in Play and Popsicles. Next week, the P&C will hold their first meeting on Monday, 23 February at 7.30pm in the library, where they will discuss events and activities for the year.

As a school, we want your involvement, we are keen to hear your ideas, and we are eager to work together. We hope to see you at our current events this year and for those families whose work commitments make this challenging, we will be examining ways to provide more opportunities to support your involvement.

Remember #getinvolved@roselea this fortnight through:

  • Meet the Teacher
  • Seesaw engagement
  • Signing up to be a Community Connector or a participant of the Community Connector groups
  • Joining the P&C for Play and Popsicles
  • Attending the P&C meeting

We hope to see you.
