Why did you decide to become a Teacher?
Both of my grandparents were teachers, and I grew up seeing the impact they made. During university, I found myself drawn to roles as a Teaching Assistant and Peer Mentor. After graduating, I spent two years working as a Software Test Engineer, but I soon realised that I preferred analysing human connections over computer code! I missed the energy of working with people, which led me to transition into teaching.
How long have you been a Teacher?
This is my first official year! I am a "fresh" graduate, ready to bring some new energy to the classroom.
What was your last place of employment?
I just completed my Master of Teaching at the University of Melbourne last December.
What do you love most about being a Teacher?
Being around young people brings so much joy and keeps every day feeling brand new.
What has been one of your best teaching moments?
A student comes up after class to say they found the lesson truly interesting and that the concepts finally "clicked" for them.
What would be 3 things that you would like the students to know about you?
Where is your favourite holiday destination?
Japan.
What TV show/series did you last binge watch?
Severance
If you could wear Harry’s invisibility cloak for one day, where would you go and what would you do?
I would sneak back into my home. I have always been curious to see what my dog actually does when I am not their. Is he sleeping, causing mischief, or just sitting by the door waiting for me.
What is the one piece of ‘advice’ or the one thing that you always say to your students?
Focus on the journey, not just the destination. Learning isn't about achieving a perfect score. It’s about how much you actually grow along the way.
