Year 7 camp
February 2026
On Thursday last week, 130 of Mullauna’s year 7 cohort (95% of the entire year level) set off to Camp Toolangi, accompanied by 13 staff members, where they set about establishing new friendships & strengthening existing ones.

The range of activities & emotions experienced by the students included the collaboration of raft building, precision of archery, creativity of hut building, refreshment of canoeing, challenge of the climbing tower & high ropes course, exhilaration of the flying fox, frustration of frisbee golf & competition of the billy carts.

Despite only being 1 night in duration, the camp provided staff & students alike to get to know one another on a deeper & more meaningful level, whilst enjoying the perfect weather, crisp, clean air & mesmerising stars.

Many thanks to the students for their exemplary behaviour & conduct, & to the attending staff for their assistance; Laura Chiappa, Adam Verrell, Tess Hill, Flora Moraitis, Luke Di Venere, James Miller, Dylan Sinosich, Peter Brodie, Grace Jenkin, Lizzy Pritchard, Camryn Dixon & Sandeep Goswami.

Students’ perspectives:
On Thursday the 19th of February, the year 7’s boarded the bus to Camp Toolangi with much excitement. Once we arrived, we were greeted by camp staff & spent some time with our year 10 peer support leaders. Afterwards we were split into our groups to start activities. From the beginning we were waiting to head to our cabins, & that moment finally came! Before going to bed, we watched a movie called “Hunt for the Wilder People” which we all enjoyed. Once the movie was finished, we headed to bed to ‘rest’ for our next big day of adventure.
My personal highlight for camp was definitely the food. We had delicious foods such as burgers, spaghetti bolognese, garlic bread, cake, muffins, toast, cereal & wraps! I’ve never asked for seconds so many times in my life!
My other favourite part of the camp were the activities – there wasn’t enough time to do every activity, but some of the activities we did included canoeing, high ropes, climbing tower, raft building, hut building, frisbee golf, archery & billy carting. My personal favourite activity was the high ropes course.
Thank you to all the teachers, organisers & helpers for providing us with a wonderful time at camp.
-Archer (7C).
Last Friday, the year 7’s got back from Camp Toolangi. We were exhausted & yet exhilarated from the incredible camp we had just experienced. We had 2 days of meeting new people, seeing new things, trying new activities, & making new friends. Whether it be archery, rock climbing, canoeing, raft building, hut building, or any other of the seemingly countless activities the camp had to offer, not to mention the food, (the bolognaise was to die for, *chefs kiss*) there was something for everyone.
My personal highlight was Billy carting, where we assembled carts in teams, then jumped aboard while a teammate pushed us along from behind, hopefully to victory against the other groups (suffice it to say, I did not win a thing!).
If the year 7’s of the future are lucky enough to go to Camp Toolangi, why, I quite envy them, having the camp still to come. 2026’s year 7’s look forward to more adventures together!
-Evie Hughes (7F).
