ART

Foundation to Year 2 students have been learning about how unique we all are and the qualities that make us special. After reflecting on these ideas, they practised their painting skills and created these beautiful self-portraits.

Year 3/4 students explored the art of self-portraits, focusing on techniques for creating balanced and symmetrical facial features. They carefully refined their designs before bringing them to life using permanent marker and watercolour paint, resulting in expressive and thoughtfully detailed artworks.

After exploring stories and artwork by Indigenous artist Bronwyn Bancroft, our Year 5/6 students reflected on the powerful role storytelling plays in art. They examined symbolism and discussed how artworks can communicate a message to the world or hold a deeply personal meaning known only to the artist. Students then applied these ideas in their own creations, focusing on concentric shapes and revisiting the use of cool and warm colours to enhance meaning and mood.
