Epping Boys Social Lawn Bowls

Get Rolling at Epping Boys High School – Social Lawn Bowls for Connection, Fun & Wellbeing
At Epping Boys High School, we aren’t just about academic success and sporting excellence — we’re about building strong, confident young men who are connected, resilient and engaged with their community. With a proud tradition of offering both grade and social sport opportunities every Wednesday afternoon, students can choose activities that suit their interests and help them grow in different ways. I have been the Lawns Bowls coordinator at EBHS since 2014 where our success has included many Northwestern Zone Championships and 3 appearances in the NSW State championships where our team finished 4th in 2016 and 6th in 2017.
While mobile phones and screens are part of everyday life, there’s no substitute for the real and meaningful conversations that happen in person. Social sport gives our boys a chance to put their phones down, connect face-to-face and enjoy laughter, teamwork and healthy competition together — skills that help build friendships that last well beyond the school gate.
Lawn Bowls is More Than a Game — It Builds Life Skills
Boosts Social Confidence
Lawn bowls is relaxed, inclusive and easy to pick up — meaning students of all skill levels can join in, share a laugh and build social skills through genuine interaction rather than scrolling or texting.
Encourages Real Conversation
sConversations on the lawn are different to chats on a screen. They’re engaging, immediate and human — perfect for developing listening skills, empathy and shared humour.
Enhances Wellbeing & Focus
Being outdoors, active and present in the moment supports mental wellbeing and gives students a break from constant notifications and screen stimulation.
A Positive Alternative to Screen Time
Instead of comparing likes or watching endless videos, students can be active and collaborative — learning to adjust game plans, encourage one another and celebrate achievements together.
An associate at Pennant Hills bowling club via the assistance of a benefactor is running a Lawn Bowls academy at Pennant Hills Bowling club (see attached flyer) in 2026. It is free, close to the station and a great way for parents to access sport for their children in given cost of living pressures. Please see the attached flyers and feel to contact Mr Stefan Kinsky at the school for more information.
