Notes from the Music Department

Being a student in the Music Program at Applecross SHS is a busy and enriching life, with instrumental or vocal lessons and home practice.

Additionally, each week of the school year, over 280 Music students participate in ensemble rehearsals during Period 6 (aka after school). Our ensembles consist of: Junior, Intermediate and Senior Concert Bands (with brass, woodwind and percussion instruments), Cygnet & Scimitar String Orchestras (with violin, viola, cello and double bass), Junior & Senior Guitar Ensembles with classical guitar), Choir for vocalists, and Jazz Band (with saxophone, clarinet, trumpet, trombone, euphonium, piano, drum kit, electric guitar and bass guitar).

Our ensemble students perform in Music Department Concerts throughout the year and Western Australian Festivals during Term Three.

In Week 8 of Term One, 130 students from the four senior ensembles will participate in the two-day Rehearsal Camp at Fairbridge Village, just outside Pinjarra, then return to Perth to present concerts at Applecross and Ardross Primary Schools.
