An important component of the Physical Education program at Junior School is Intensive Swimming. In the 30-minute sessions, students have gained water confidence, improved stroke technique and acquired vital survival swimming skills. Next week, we head to the Hamilton Outdoor Pool for the final two sessions on Monday and Tuesday.
Wednesday 18 February is our House Swimming Carnival. Prep to Year 2 students will showcase their skills in the morning program, with our Year 3 to Year 6 students following with 25m and 50m events. Age Champions and the winning House will be announced at around 2.15pm. Young House were our champions in 2025. Mrs. Patterson would greatly appreciate some parent volunteers to assist the Junior School staff on the day. A coffee van will be available through to 10.30am.
A wonderful offering at Junior School is the weekly clubs, sports training and musical offerings available to the Prep to Year 6 students. Our Term 1 roster has been finalised:
Monday - Art Club with Mrs. Cameron (lunch)
Tuesday - Garden Club with Mrs. Callinan (lunch) and ‘Dare to Dream’ cast rehearsals with Ms Lanman and Ms Bolton (lunch)
Wednesday - S.R.C (Student Representative Council) with Mr. Nelson (recess) Library Club with Miss Brabham (recess) and Compass Award meetings with Mrs. Kelly (lunch)
Thursday - Pizzicato Strings with Mr. Singh (lunch); Minecraft Club with Miss Brabham (lunch)
Friday - Netball training with Mrs. Kelly (lunch)
It has been an impressive start to the 2026 school year from our Year 6 student leaders. The School Captains have already commenced their duties with running a Welcome Assembly on the first day of term and recording an advertisement for Open Day on the local radio station. Year 6 students have volunteered their time to be present in the Prep classroom in the mornings before school starts, assisting our new students to settle into school. We have had plenty of helpers with driveway flags and Friday House Sports.
Our Year 6 students will present their speeches for House captaincy positions on Friday afternoon. We will announce the 2026 House Captains on the afternoon of Monday 16 February. Leadership badges will be presented at our ‘Year 6 Badge Assembly’ on Monday 23 February at 2.30pm in the Refectory. Family and friends are invited to attend.

2026 will see the second Junior School musical, following on from the tremendously successful ‘Frozen Junior’ in 2024. This year, we present Disney’s ‘Dare to Dream’. All Prep to year 6 students will be on stage throughout the 65-minute production. Auditions for the 15 major roles will be held on the afternoon of Wednesday 11 March, from 2.00pm through to 5.30pm. There are no featured dancers in ‘Dare to Dream’. Musical Director Mrs. Angela Price will put together an information pack with all relevant details for the auditions. This will be sent out next week. A schedule has been created for rehearsals throughout Terms 1, 2 and 3. We are currently finalising the performance dates, which will more than likely be in the early weeks of Term 4.
