Proactive Policing - G5 & 6

Recently the Proactive Policing Team, Megan Krause and Nick Carlson attended Leongatha Primary School and spoke with grade five and six students about cyber safety and how to stay safe and be respectful online. They had an uncomfortable conversation and about sharing intimate images online. Explanations were given as to what is an intimate image and why these should not be shared and what to do if this does happen to them.
Sexting, sextortion and access to pornography is posing a real danger to our young people. Our children are at risk by sharing intimate images of themselves and not being aware that the image is very difficult to remove from the internet. It's important that the students, parents, teachers reach out for help quickly and for parents to have these conversations with their children.
One of the best parts of the afternoon was hanging out with Milly the Golden Retriever who hangs out with the kids three days a week.
