Student Leaders Corner

Hi everyone!

So much has happened in the weeks since the last Student Leaders Corner update, including Japanese students visiting our school, the Attitudes to School Survey and even more fundraising. Along with these things, there are even more events that you can go to or participate in during Term 3.

The first one that happened at the end of Week 4… Production!! There were two performances of A Midsummer Night's Dream open to the public, one on Friday 15th August and one on Saturday 16th August. Both nights featured incredible performances, so congratulations to all involved!

Another event that the whole school can get involved with in the last week of term is Cultural Inclusion Week. The week will be filled with cultural activities, cuisine, dancing and songs over the loudspeakers. On Thursday 18th August, there will be a cultural dress day where you can come to school in your favourite outfit that represents your culture! It is going to be so much fun, and if you want to dance at the performances that week, make sure to keep an eye out in the coming weeks for the expression of interest form!

As I mentioned, we had some Japanese students visiting our school in the first week of Term 3. The exchange students and their hosts went to a variety of exciting places around Victoria, including the City, Gumbuya World and an AFL game. We also got to show them some Australian food and culture through an Aboriginal dot art class and cooking ANZAC cookies! Everyone had an amazing time, we can’t wait for our students to visit them and for them to come back in the coming years!

Throughout the first two weeks of Term, every year level had an assembly in which they were shown the results from the Attitudes to School Survey. This survey gives us, as student leaders, a glimpse of what everyone around the school thinks and allows us, along with next year's student leaders, to begin looking at ways to improve areas across the school!

That’s all from me, remember to stand up and speak up!

Kind Regards,
