On Wednesday 2nd July, Year 7 Grevillea and Fern held a student conference focusing on the Yarra River. The event, organised by Miss Lam, provided an opportunity for students and teachers to learn about the Yarra River and the issues it faces. Early in the morning, Year 7 Grevillea, Year 7 Fern, several teachers, and Miss Ogden gathered in the Design Centre, where the guest speaker, Sammy, an industry expert from Melbourne Water, joined us. Shortly after, a group of Year 7 Grevillea students gave a presentation, which gave a brief on the Yarra and its challenges and a solution, which involved the purification of a water sample of the Yarra.
Following the presentation, Sammy spoke about his role at Melbourne Waters and provided an overview on the Yarra and ongoing efforts implemented to improve its health. Afterwards, everyone headed to the back of the Design Centre to take part in a competitive game called Liquid Logistics Water Relay. It was a very hands-on, critical thinking game which involved teamwork and cooperation yet fun for everyone that was involved.
Finally, after the game, awards and prizes were distributed to students, recognizing their achievements and hard work. Overall, it was an amazing and enjoyable experience to take part in which couldn’t have been possible without the efforts of the amazing Miss Lam and her dedication to her students.

One of our Year 12 Chemistry classes went to Ecolinc, Bacchus Marsch on Friday 1st August to conduct experiments in Organic Chemistry and Spectroscopy. They enjoyed the hands-on experience with instrumentation practicals which are normally not possible at school. Students had a good Chemistry Day out!

10Sc4A students are learning about DNA in their Science class in Term 3. They have constructed some models using pipe cleaners in class by watching a video on how to do this. They worked well and all students learnt about parts of DNA using their constructed model.
