Grevillea House

Good morning everyone, welcome back to Term 3!

It has been an exciting start to Term 3, with events and activities bringing our school community closer together. I am Rose, Year 10 SRC representative for Grevillea House 2025. SRC has given me the chance to communicate my thoughts more efficiently and effectively with confidence. More importantly, it gave me the opportunity to build leadership skills and be more creative.

As per the SRC selection process, we had to give speeches to our classmates. To me, it was a moment that pushed me to step out of my comfort zone and speak up, which taught me an important lesson about confidence and courage.

JAPANESE SISTER SCHOOL VISIT

Recently we had the Japanese Sister School visit our School, which is really great to be a part of and see everyone connecting.

LUNCH TIME GAMES

Our SRC team has organised a game club every Wednesday lunchtime in G1 and G2 for Grevilleans, providing a great way to connect with each other, have fun, and enjoy a break. We have games such as chess, Uno, Monopoly, Scrabble, Tumbling Tower and many more. Since this started, students have been having so much more fun instead of just sitting around, which has been so nice to see.

YEAR 10 COURSE COUNSELING

As a Year 10 student, I believe course counseling is a crucial part of our Year 11 and 12 journey because it helps us make wise decisions about subjects that will shape our future pathways and career options. I observed what was happening both to me and to the other Year 10 students. Most of the students were talking about, “What if I lose interest in that subject by the time I get to Year 11 and 12?” or “What if my friends are not in the same classes as me?”. By observing this, we learn that everyone will experience or has experienced similar situations in their lives, which can sometimes lead to making either good or bad choices. Moral, good choices often lead to better outcomes, while poor choices tend to result in less positive ones.

One quote that inspires me the most is: "Decisions determine destiny." - Frederick Speakman.

CELEBRATING GREVILLEA STUDENTS WITH HIGH ATTENDENCE

Our House celebrates students with high attendance every fortnight by featuring their names on the digital screen, which has been great to see and motivates many students.

In the end, I would like to say:

Always be kind, because you never know what someone might be going through. Have a big smile on your face and help everyone around you.

Have a amazing term everyone!
