Religion
Our Religious Education topic has been 'Sacred Stories' for weeks 1-5 of term three. We have discussed the stories found in both Old and New Testament and how these take on many different literary forms. We have looked at the journey of Paul throughout the New Testament.
Literacy
Throughout the term we have studied our class novel, 'Once.' Written by Morris Glietzman
Onceis a powerful and deeply moving novel set during World War II. It follows the story of Felix, a young Jewish boy who escapes from a Catholic orphanage in Nazi-occupied Poland, believing his parents are still alive and in danger. With a heart full of hope and a head full of stories, Felix embarks on a journey to find them—unaware of the horrors unfolding around him.
As Felix travels through war-torn landscapes, he meets Zelda, a spirited girl who joins him on his quest. Together, they face unimaginable cruelty, but also moments of kindness and courage. The book explores themes of innocence, resilience, friendship, and the power of storytelling in the face of darkness.
Ask the students about it, they have loved this novel, we are keen to continue reading the next book in the series, 'Then.'
Our next novel for the term is 'Can You See Me?' Written by Libby Scott and Rebecca Westcott, this novel is a heartfelt coming-of-age novel that follows Tally, an 11-year-old autistic girl navigating the challenges of starting secondary school. Though proud of who she is, Tally feels pressure to hide her autism in order to fit in. As she faces shifting friendships, bullying, and the overwhelming need to appear “normal,” she begins to question what acceptance truly means.
The story blends traditional narrative with diary entries inspired by Libby Scott’s real-life experiences, offering an authentic and deeply empathetic look into the mind of a neurodiverse child. It’s a powerful exploration of identity, friendship, and self-worth
Maths: In maths we have been focusing on angles, fractions and multiplying decimals by the power of ten.
We begin our maths sessions with Daily 10. This is a chance to revisit mental computation.
Daily 10 - Mental Maths Challenge - Topmarks
Inquiry: Our Inquiry unit is a science unit, looking at all the different features of space. We are currently working on producing an information piece on different planets within our solar system.
Uniform:
A reminder that students need to be wearing their school uniform each day to school. Students should not to be wearing make up, nail polish and only studs or sleeper earrings. Thank you for your support with this.
BOOK WEEK
A huge success, thanks to Mrs Robinson for all her efforts.
