What's On In Performing Arts

For this newsletter, we are shining a spotlight on Performing Arts - and what a spotlight it is!
Across the school, students have been singing, dancing and making music!
Our Foundation students have been busy learning, singing and building to a performance of a song celebrating their 100 Days of School - we are so proud of their efforts, and what a stellar performance!
In Grade 1 and 2, students have been exploring ways to incorporate movement into music, and discovering musical concepts and vocabulary, including tempo and pitch.
Grade 3/4 students have been continuing their learning about instruments of the orchestra, and have been busy learning and sharing their newfound knowledge.
In Grade 5/6, we have been continuing building our bank of chords on Ukulele and are beginning to learn simple songs using these chords. Responding to music is a continued area of learning, and we have been focusing on the areas of instrumentation and vocal timbre.
Of course, the biggest musical adventure this term is the start of our Footsteps dance lessons! It has been wonderful to hear such positive feedback from our students and teachers about their first lessons, and to see students already excited to practise their dance steps with their friends and peers. What a wonderful event we are creating together!
