Careers & Pathways
Senior School - Years 9 - 12
Throughout Term 2, some of our students have gone above and beyond to seek out unique and meaningful work experience placements — taking initiative, showing great determination, and gaining valuable insights into the world beyond school.
From placements with Victoria Police and the Australian Signals Directorate to experiences with teams at Eastern Health, these students have demonstrated maturity, curiosity, and a strong commitment to exploring their future pathways. We’re incredibly proud of their efforts and the way they’ve represented our school in the wider community.
Below, some of our students share their experiences in their own words — what they learned, the highlights of their placements, and how it has shaped their thinking about the future.
We hope their reflections inspire other students to be proactive in seeking out opportunities that align with their interests and goals. Work experience is a powerful way to explore careers, build confidence, and gain real-world skills — and we’re here to support all students in finding placements that excite and challenge them.
Victoria Police
During my time at Ringwood Police Station, I learned a lot about how the police work. I went to court and saw cases, mostly about domestic violence. I got a tour of the station and watched people being brought in and out of the cells after being arrested or remanded. I listened to the police radios and saw how busy things can get. I asked lots of questions about what the officers do and what their job is like. It was a really interesting and eye-opening experience.

Eastern Health
I did my work experience at Eastern Health Maroondah Hospital. I got to work in the dialysis unit, dialysis is when your kidney isn't filtering all of the waste so they hook you up on to a machine that acts as an artificial kidney. I got to see how they hook them up to the machine (gory stuff too), how the machine works and learned about what the nurses[JD1] ’ day to day looks like. this really helped making sure that I want to be a nurse in the future!
