Curiosity ELC

A Remarkable Start to Semester Two for the Green Team!

What a remarkable fortnight it has been - Play has been our teacher, and through it we’ve strengthened friendships and formed new connections rooted in care and trust. Jessica helped a friend with a fallen gumboot, Harlie read stories aloud to captivated listeners, Harper and Blair exchanged a warm embrace, and the children gathered to reflect on safety together.

In the sandpit they collaborated to build a volcano, negotiating, planning, and experimenting side by side. All the while, everyday routines and rituals - our shared songs/stories, safety discussions, and caring gestures - have nurtured a sense of belonging, respect, and community.

The Green Team truly shines as a space where children express themselves through many “languages” and where learning unfolds through relationships, shared experiences, and thoughtful reflection.

Learning Through Play - Mathematics!

The Green Team children have shown impressive mathematical thinking by engaging in play-based invitations that deepen spatial reasoning, number sense, and problem-solving skills: they built foam structures testing balance and volume, rearranged 2D shapes into new configurations, experimented with Tetris-style blocks on a board to explore tessellation and fit, and innovatively piled magnetic 2Dshapes on tins - each activity inviting counting, comparison, symmetry, composition, and transformation. These provocations invite investigation, iteration, and AMAZING dialogue!!
