Sumatra-Indonesia Tour

Indonesian Study Tour to Sumatra

During the recent school holidays, a group of our Indonesian language students embarked on a memorable cultural and educational tour to North Sumatra. The itinerary was packed with rich learning experiences, including visits to an elephant and orangutan conservation centre, traditional Batak villages, and the stunning Lake Toba. Students explored local markets, participated in a hands-on cooking class, and learned the Tor Tor traditional dance. A particularly moving part of the trip was visiting a local school for children with disabilities, which left a lasting impression on everyone.

The tour also offered valuable insights into sustainability and environmental issues through discussions on palm oil and rubber plantations. These topics directly support our Year 12 students in preparing for their Indonesian oral exam. It was an unforgettable trip that deepened the students understanding of Indonesian culture, environment, and community life. A big thankyou to Ita, Andrew and the parent volunteers who gave up their time to provide this wonderful opportunity to our students, and for looking after them so well.
