From Principal Steve - NAPLAN 2025

NAPLAN Results and PAT Assessment 2025
NAPLAN testing provides information about how students are progressing in school and how they compare to their peers across the country. Included below, we have summarised our Grade 3 and 5 NAPLAN results for 2025 compared with network schools and other similar schools.
Our school is a member of the Beachside network of schools that includes all government schools from Port Melbourne to Cheltenham along Port Phillip Bay. There are 19 primary schools in our network including Albert Park, Middle Park and Sandringham Primary Schools. ‘Similar schools’ are schools serving students from statistically similar backgrounds to Brighton Primary School. Examples of similar schools include Middle Park Primary School, which is part of our school network, and Camberwell Primary School, which, while not in our network, shares a similar demographic profile.
The Grade 3 NAPLAN results are one measure of student achievement and growth from Grades Prep to Grade 2 while the Grade 5 NAPLAN results measure student achievement and growth from Grades 3 - 5.
Our 2025 NAPLAN results demonstrate high levels of student achievement in reading, writing, numeracy, spelling, as well as grammar and punctuation. In most NAPLAN domains, our Grade 3 and 5 students scored above network schools and similar schools for the strong and exceeding proficiencies. I would like to extend our congratulations and sincere gratitude to all members of our community - our students, teachers, the Learning Enhancement Team, our support staff as well as parents & carers - who have worked in partnership to maximise student learning at Brighton Primary School. Your collaboration, dedication, and hard work has significantly enhanced learning for our students.
