The middle of term two is fast approaching and as we head into week four, we're excited to remind you about our upcoming Wellbeing & Cultural Appreciation Day this Friday at WACoA Cunderdin.
This special event is a celebration of diversity, mental health, and cultural understanding within our school community.
Through a variety of engaging activities and workshops, students will have the opportunity to explore Indigenous perspectives, learn essential self-care strategies, and celebrate the rich tapestry of cultural diversity that makes our school unique.
We welcome back Lily Gresele, who was a keynote speaker last year, and will run workshops with the boys and girls this year. We have Headspace, Hollyoake, the Cunderdin Health Nurse and the Stephen Michael Foundation (SMF) all running workshops on mental health and wellbeing. In addition, we have SMF running a ‘Culture Through Sport’ session and the Follow the Dream Foundation running a ‘Culture Through Art’ session. This year we also have the pleasure of having a member of staff who has expertise in line dancing and will run a ‘Movement for Wellbeing’ session where students will gain some fun skills in line dancing.
Days like our Wellbeing & Cultural Appreciation Day are essential for fostering inclusivity, empathy, and appreciation for diverse perspectives in our school community. We believe it's through events like these that we come together to learn, grow, and support one another. It’s a great chance for students to shed the pressures of academia and relax and enjoy some fun-filled social activities.
Parents, please encourage your child/children to engage in the day and get some benefits from participating with their friends.
In addition to the Wellbeing & Cultural Appreciation Day, our Growth Hunting Sessions with Jarrod Kayler-Thomson will continue next Monday, providing valuable opportunities for personal and academic growth in a supportive environment.
We extend our gratitude to you, our valued parents and guardians, for your continued support and partnership in nurturing the wellbeing of our students. Together, let us embrace each opportunity for growth, connection, and reflection as we navigate through the term.
