Teaching and Learning

Hello families,

It has been a smooth transition into Term Two, with students right back to school rituals and routines. As always, students will be reading and writing about different content areas to build upon background knowledge, as well as developing word recognition skills, language comprehension, sentence level writing and the ability to write in different genres.

What will your children be learning about this week?

Foundation

My Place, My Country, My World

Foundation students will be learning about their place, their country and their world for the entirety of Term Two, as they continue to establish their ability to hear, recognise, say and record different phonemes (sounds) and graphemes (spelling choice/letters).

Junior School

Continents, Countries & Maps

For the next five weeks Junior students will investigate continents, countries and maps.

Middle School

Kensuke’s Kingdom - novel study

Our Curriculum Committee presented the students with a choice for a novel study and the students have spoken. For the next 5 weeks Middle school students will continue to read, write and think about Kensuke’s Kingdom.

Senior School

War Horse - novel study

The Senior school also voted for their novel to study and for the next 5 weeks they will continue to read, write and think about War Horse.

Happy reading at home!

Book Club

Scholastic Book Club is a service offered to students, parents and teachers. Brochures advertising a variety of books and computer software are sent home with each student, approximately twice a term.

Purchase of the books is not compulsory and there is no obligation. If you do wish to purchase any goods simply log into the Book Club site www.scholastic.com.au/LOOP and follow the prompts. All Book Club orders must be ordered and paid for via LOOP. Do not send order forms and cash to school. When the order arrives at school, books are sent home with students.

The School earns “Bonus Points” for each order which can be used to purchase new resources for the Library.

Issue 2 orders should be in by the end of next week and Issue 3 will be out early in term 2.

Click here for the Scholastic Book Club Parent Log in page or to register for new users.
