Mr Lindsay's Message

Hi everyone,

Thank you for reading this week’s newsletter. I’m currently in the Acting Principal role which was vacated by Sam.

A bit of an update about this, the Department of Education is currently following their recruitment processes and hope to have appointed a successful applicant in the near future. Once that applicant has been selected this will be communicated with our wonderful school community who I know will make them feel welcome. In the meantime, please come and see me with any queries you would have usually directed to Sam.

Last week was the first week of Term 2.  It was great to see all students return and settle into the school routine so quickly. Coming back to school after two weeks off can take some getting used to and our classroom teachers prioritise spending time on re-establishing routines and expectations with their classes. I’ve spoken to many of our classroom teachers and inclusion team members and they have been very impressed with how quickly our students have adjusted.

As Teesdale Primary School grows in student numbers, we are also growing in our staffing numbers. Our Inclusion Team are an integral part of Teesdale Primary and work within classrooms to support all students. We are in a fortunate position where we have at least one Inclusion Team member in every classroom across our school. Our lucky students have responded well to having two adults in their rooms who can support them across the day. Over the break we hired two new Inclusion Team members/ES. Welcome to Amelie Ashley and Stacey Lyness. This brings the number of inclusion team members to 16.

Cross Country Events

Last Friday, all students made their way to Don Wallace Reserve to compete in the 2024 Teesdale Cross Country. It was great to see everyone participating and enjoying themselves. Thank you to Mr Maskell for his organisation of this event, the staff of the roles they had on the day and parents/guardians who came to support.

This Friday is the next round of cross country. Students who made that cut-off times last week will progress to the Flinders Cross Country and represent Teesdale Primary School. Good luck to those students!

Young Leaders Breakfast

On Wednesday this week, our School Leaders will be participating in the Young Leaders breakfast in Geelong. This event is a great opportunity for our School Leaders to work with leaders from other schools and listen to the keynote speaker, Aretha Brown. Aretha is an Indigenous artist, author and the first woman and youngest person to hold the position of Prime Minister of the National Indigenous Youth Parliament.

ANZAC DAY

ANZAC day is on Thursday. This is a day of remembrance where we commemorate all Australians and New Zealanders who served and died in all wars. A reminder that students won’t be attending school on this day.

I hope you all have a fantastic week!

Speak soon,

Rhys

A selection of pins, bag tags, wrist bands and pens are for sale to support the ANZAC Appeal. Student Leaders will visit classrooms each day to sell items. Please help support this very worthy cause. All proceeds are returned to the Inverleigh RSL.

Year 6 to 7 Information and Application Pack for Parents
