Living with Strength and Kindliness

This week we paused as a community to celebrate Anzac Day. We were blessed to engage in a liturgy and ceremony led by our student leaders, history students and staff. As part of this ceremony we reflected on the Gospel from John.

A reading from the Gospel of John:

A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.

Drawing from our theme of Hope this year I share with you the reflection shared during this liturgy:

"At its heart of this Gospel, Jesus calls his friends and disciples to love one another, to share his story and to be there for each other. Anzac Day also speaks of love and mateship—not just love for one's country, but love for humanity itself. The soldiers who stood shoulder to shoulder, fought side by side, and even laid down their lives did so out of a profound sense of duty and care for their comrades. In the midst of chaos and turmoil, they found strength in their bonds with one another. In remembering their sacrifices, we're reminded that love, compassion, and solidarity are the greatest weapons against adversity. It's these virtues that offer us hope for a future of peace and justice. Just as the Anzacs found hope in each other amidst the horrors of war, we too can find hope in our shared humanity and our capacity to support, uplift, and care for one another."

So, as we reflect on ANZAC Day, let us not only honor the memory of those who served but also carry forward their legacy by fostering love, hope, unity in our communities and beyond. For it is through these acts of kindness and justice that we can truly honour the spirit of the Anzacs and create a world where sacrifice is replaced by solidarity, and where hope shines brightly in the face of adversity.

Upcoming Celebrations

Celebrating Mothers and Inspiring Women: 9 May 2024

Last year we held a Mother’s Day celebration for our Year 7 students and Father’s Day for our senior students.

We have listened to the views of our community and as such, will rotate venues and year levels in 2024. Moving forward, the  view is to increase accessibility for all families to engage with our community at different times.

This year our Mother’s Day celebration will be held at our Brigidine Campus for our Year 9 & 10 families, and Father’s Day will be held at Kildare for our Year 7 families. We look forward to these times with our students and families.
