Attitudes to School Survey

The Attitudes to School Survey (AtoSS) is running in our school starting on Monday 13th May. The purpose of the AtoSS is to gain better understandings of students' perceptions and experiences of school. We value student voice to improve student engagement, wellbeing, and quality instruction. Your child will be asked about their thoughts and feelings in relation to their school, their learning, peer relationships, resilience, bullying, health and wellbeing, physical activity, and life in general. The survey responses help us understand how students’ learning experiences can be improved. For more information, or if you would like your child to opt out of the AtoSS, please refer to the attached notice.

Facilities

This week we have seen the start of the roof replacement on C Block our Technology classrooms. We hope to have the project completed and all classes back in their scheduled rooms by the end of the month. We will continue to work with the contractor and minimise the room disruptions each day. 

We thank the staff and students for their patience, understanding and flexibility during the project.

Student Dress Code Policy

Our student dress code policy has been updated.  It can be found at:

Key changes to this policy are:

• Students can choose to wear navy blue or black pants and shorts 
• School pants may be navy blue or black – no denim, trackpants or leggings or visible logos, except for the Bairnsdale Secondary College logo
• School shorts may be navy blue or black – mid-thigh length and no visible logos, except for the Bairnsdale Secondary College logo
• The approved sports uniform and appropriate footwear is recommended for all students to wear during practical P.E. classes and when representing the College playing sport. This includes the approved College sports t-shirt.
• School uniform must be worn travelling to school and during the school day. On days where students have a practical PE class they may wear the approved sports t-shirt and approved sports shorts for the day to and from school. Students may not wear the approved tracksuit pants or leggings to and from school when they have a practical PE class. 

Compass

Log into your Compass Account/APP for news, report Absences, Reports, Excursion Permissions and pay contributions. Contact Administration if you need setting up or a reset password.

Collecting students during the day

Reminder to parents and carers that a note must be provided to students for them to give to their teacher when they are to meet you at reception at a specific time for collection during the school day.

Please note that students can only be collected by parents/carers/family listed as Family or Emergency Contacts.  Authorisation from the primary parents/carers must be provided for another person to collect your student from school.

If you have an urgent message for your student regarding issues such as alternative school pick up arrangements, the Administration Team are more than happy to pass the message to your student.
