ATHLETICS DAY and BALL SPORTS

What a spectacular two days of sporting events we had to finish off Term One. It was such a wonderful feel at Miners Rest at the Ball Sports event where we saw students from the Kinder all the way through to Year Six competing in the various events practised throughout the term. It was great to see everyone dressed in their house colours and encouraging their team.

What a contrast of days it was for the 2024 Athletics Carnival at Llanberris compared to 2023. The sun was shining, and it was wonderful to see all of the bright colours and spirits of students entering Llanberris ready for an action filled day.

While the very helpful Ballarat High School students made final adjustments to the events for the day, the nerves and excitement were high as the 3-6 students made their way into their first age group rotations after some amazing 800m races to begin the day.  Students were trying their hardest to perform to the best of their ability whilst trying to remember correct technique at the different events.

It was great to see to F-2 students join us this year at Llanberris for their Tabloid events and then showcasing their sprinting skills.

We would like to thank all students who participated in the Athletics Day, all parents and friends who were able to come along and support the Miners Rest children, the Ballarat High School children who assisted the F-6 students at the events and all of the teachers who work very hard on these types of days.

Special thanks to the 2024 House Captains for all of their dedication and enthusiasm to any job that has been thrown at them so far this year.

Special congratulations to GREEN HOUSE who won this year's Ball Sports and Athletics Day Shield.

Terrific Term Two

Break out the beanies, hitch up your socks and lace those boots because here comes Term Two, Winter weather and FOOTBALL SEASON!  We are going to fully embrace our amazing home-grown game this term with an AFL focus for Foundation, Year One and Year Two students and a couple of clinics for our Senior School students dotted throughout our next ten weeks at school.

Our junior school will travel to Eureka Gymnastics on a weekly basis, this term and we will deliver a school based program for our senior students with Don from Gymsports Ballarat.  Don has visited our school in the past and has a wealth of knowledge and expertise for our students to learn how to safely perform gymnastics movements with relative ease and confidence!

There are also some very important events on the horizon for our fit and fabulous children at Miners Rest Primary K-6!  Below is a list of all the AMAZING things we have to look forward to as we head into the ‘cooler’ months of 2024.

*Foundation, Grade One and Grade Two weekly gymnastics

(Eureka Gymnastics Club)

*Eureka Cross Country event (Federation University, Ballarat)

*Year Four Camp (Wyuna, Queenscliff)

*Year Five Camp (Roses Gap)

*Year Five and Six Winter Sports - Netball, Football, Soccer

Get ready for a jam packed term of movement, learning and fun!

See you in the gym,

Katherine and Miss Em
