Yes, it's true!

Yes, I will be stepping down as Principal of Newlands Primary at the end of term two, 2024. I started here at Newlands in 2009 and it has been a wonderful time for me and I have enjoyed being a part of the community and helping with putting Newlands back on the educational map here in Darebin.

The next stage before a new principal can be appointed will see an acting principal interviewed by the Region and appointed for term three. During term three, a panel will be established, and a new principal will be appointed at the commencement of term four.

I would also like to acknowledge and thank Adam, the school council president, for his kind words. 

Kate's

Yes, unfortunately, Kate has informed us that, for personal reasons, she will no longer be a teacher at Newlands Primary for the remainder of 2024. I realise this will have come as a shock to the families of both Kate's and Juan's grades, it certainly has to us, but like anybody in the community, we need to respect each individual's decision and thank them for their commitment to teaching Newlands.

We appreciate her energy and commitment to student learning and the drive she has encouraged in our students for the game of Lacrosse. Thank you, Kate.

Kate's replacement

We are currently negotiating Kate's replacement with one of our trusted replacement teachers to finish term two with the students and possibly complete the year. further confirmation of this will be relayed to the families in Kate's grade as well as Juan's families.
