WORLD NEWS

There is deep shock and sadness around the country in the last few weeks following distressing events and the tragic loss of lives in Sydney. Young people might be feeling upset or angry by the news, and overwhelmed by the constant media coverage.

For parents, having an open conversation with their teen about how they’re both feeling, encouraging them to take a break from the news and social media, and doing family self-care activities are some of the ways they can support their teen to cope with distressing events in the news.  Check out this link for more information:

It's normal for students to feel really upset over a distressing event, even if it hasn’t directly impacted them. They might be confused by their reaction or struggling to cope with their emotions.

Share this guide with them, so they can make sense of what they might be feeling and learn how to work through it.

Write to your MP to protect the next generation from vaping

Quit, together with the Cancer Council Federation, encourage you to write to your local Member of Parliament to support the smooth passage of the next wave of crucial vaping laws.

Join the cause!

This legislation intends to:

  • Stop the access to and supply of all single use, disposable vapes
  • Strengthen and reinforce the prescription pathway for therapeutic vaping
  • Halt the advertising, supply, and commercial possession of non-prescription and disposable vapes
  • Introduce measures to reduce the appeal and use of vapes outside of the prescription pathway, by introducing minimum quality standards on flavours, colours and ingredients; pharmaceutical like packaging; and reducing allowable nicotine contents
  • Introduce minimum vaping product quality standards where none currently exist on vaping products

Use this simple form below to auto generate a letter to your MP. Your voice can help ensure your students are best protected from the harms of non-prescription vaping.
