Wellbeing Team News

This term is gearing up to be a busy one for the Wellbeing Team, with a number of programs kicking off over the last couple of weeks. The college develops programs with community partners who can offer amazing opportunities for our students, some of them are listed here:

  • Raise Mentoring Program:  Facilitated by Raise, experts in youth mentoring for over 10 years, this small-group program will run for 20 weeks, to support the personal growth and development of eight female students from years 7 – 10. The program started this term, so we are excited to see these students reach their potential!

  • EdConnect Mentoring Program: The EdConnect mentors are volunteers from our local community, who are excited to give-back, by connecting with our students and supporting them. Any student within the college can participate in this program, they just have to get parent/carer permission. If you think your child would benefit from having a mentor, contact the college and ask to speak to Chris from the Wellbeing Team.

  • Girls on the Go Program: Started with a bang! This group is made up of a small group of female students from year 7 who are loving the yummy food they create together. The facilitators, our Mental Health Practitioner and Secondary School nurse, love to see all their smiling faces as they learn about ways to develop their self-confidence.

  • Groundwork Transition Program: We know moving into secondary school can be hard, so we are providing some additional support for a small group of students to develop some friendship and organisational skills. Groundwork Psychology clinic is working with our Wellbeing Officer, to run some fun activities that help students feel comfortable in their new school.

How the School Student Broadband Initiative works

If you are eligible, your home internet service will be provided at no cost until 31st December 2025, by a participating internet provider, over the National Broadband Network. Each internet provider has its own step-by-step process to get you connected, which may involve you providing identification.

Once you sign up, the internet provider will help you set up your connection. The initiative does not include devices such as a computer or tablet. Other members of your household can use the internet service provided through this initiative.

At the end of the active period, you will not be placed onto a paid service by your internet provider without your consent. The Australian Government is considering options beyond 2025.

How to apply

  1. Request a consent form from the school (Front Office, House Offices, Wellbeing Team).
  2. Return the completed form to the Front Office.
  3. If eligible, families/carers will:
    • Receive a voucher to allow them to sign up,
    • Need to choose a participating RSP and redeem the voucher to get the service installed.
