Principal's Report
Dear Parents, Carers, Students, and Staff,
Welcome back to Term 2!
It is with great excitement that we embark on another term filled with opportunities for learning and growth.
Last week, we kicked off the term with our House Cross Country event. I want to extend my sincere thanks to Ms. Erin Louden, Mr. Billy Jessop, Mr. Aaron Hare, and our Vocational Major students for their outstanding leadership in organising this event. Your dedication and hard work are truly appreciated.
Last Friday 19th April, our student leaders and members of the Year 10 History Class participated in the 92nd Legacy Anzac Day commemoration at the Shrine of Remembrance. I want to express my gratitude to Mr. Jake Antill for his assistance throughout the day. It was heartwarming to receive many positive comments from the public about the maturity and politeness of our students. A special mention to Josh Taylor and Amy Weinman for representing our college and laying a wreath near the Shrine's eternal flame. I am incredibly proud of our students for consistently demonstrating our school values of Respect, Learning, and Working Together. Your behaviour and attitudes are a credit to our school community.
Under sunny skies and perfect conditions, House Athletics took place at Casey Fields. Congratulations to all participants, and a special congratulations to Mabo House for winning this year's House Athletics.
Our Anzac Assembly was held on Tuesday, thanks to Ms. Gabi Phelan, Ms. Georgia Riley, and our student leaders for their leadership in this special assembly. Thank you also to Mr Ray Heathcote from Berwick RSL for his words and for joining us on this occasion.
Student leader Alex Liong and Ms Georgia joined me at the ANZAC Day Dawn Service conducted by the Hampton Park Progress Association.
Our Open Day was held on Wednesday attracting lots of interest from prospective families from local feeder primary schools. A huge thank you to our student leaders for their work in stepping up to showcase our college. A big thanks also to our dedicated staff for their work and to Ms Kelly Krieg for her leadership of this event.
This week, Year 9 student participated in the Morrisby Testing. This assessment helps student to establish their career profile. When available, this information can be useful prior to subject selection and course counselling as student progress into the senior school.
Our curriculum day last week, enabled staff to continue their work on the Berry Street Education Model.
I am excited about the term ahead and the continued growth and achievements of our students. Thank you for your ongoing support, and let's make Term 2 a great success!
