News from the Chicken Coop

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

Thanks to the wonderful Carnovale, Ballestrin, Solomon, Daritan, Joe, Li and Simpson families for taking such great care of our school chickens over Easter and the school holidays. We heard you got lots of yummy free range eggs!

Volunteers needed for weekend Chicken Duty Roster from 25/4/24

We now need volunteers for Term 2 weekend chicken duty roster. All dates are available apart from this weekend. If there are public holidays you will be lucky enough to get to do more days! You only need to pop up to visit the chickens once a day to check their water and food. It’s really easy and the kids love it! Duty families get to keep all the yummy eggs that they collect over the weekend. An information sheet will be provided with all the details prior to your duty.

If you would like to put your name on the roster please email Mel Kerwin at mkerwin@sjmitcham.catholic.edu.au with your preferred dates. First in, first choice of dates!

Egg Lotto

Tickets are available to buy at any time, just bring your money into school and the Environment Leaders will help you out. We usually sell tickets in front of the school on Wednesday afternoons from 3:10-3:20pm, selling tickets to students, parents, grandparents and carers.

All the money we make is put back into buying food and other necessities for our chickens. The next Egg Lotto draw will be Monday 22 April. There will be a few dozen eggs available to win so get your winning $1 raffle ticket soon!

News from the Garden

Each week we sell Egg Lotto tickets and sometimes fresh produce from our garden depending on what’s ready to harvest. There is always fabulous worm juice available (organic liquid fertiliser from our worm farms), just ask for it if it’s not on display.

We have been busy over the holidays getting the wicking beds ready for planting some winter veggies so please come and visit our little stall on Wednesdays, you never know what we might have to sell along with the egg lotto tickets!

Thanks for your support,

The Environment Team
