Parent and staff Sustainability group

If any parents and carers have a passion for sustainability and would like to help with some of the projects we have at school, you are invited to a meeting after school on Wednesday 22nd of July (Week 2 Term 3 ) at 3.30pm. We are hoping to have a couple of meetings each term to work on grants and projects. All welcome!

One project that has been instigated by Melissa Day (Amaya 1B’s mum) is to make a nature strip native garden along the Clyde street side of our school. A very exciting project which will be so helpful to our native animals and increase the biodiversity in our area. 

Sustainability Group Leaders

Frog bog

Following on from our Resource Smart Schools Student Summit, those fabulous SGL’s are looking to make a Frog bog at our school. We will cost the project and suggest suitable sites around our school, before we bring it to Robyn and School Council. The frog bog will seek to improve our biodiversity score and reuse water from our drink taps. 

Gumnut the wombat and Bamboo the panda

Introducing Gumnut the wombat and Bamboo the panda to our school! Last Wednesday the Sustainability Group Leaders helped each class to vote to decide what our new friends should be called. We hope to have Gumnut and Bamboo at the office with Sir Flipper very soon.

Sustainable stall

Over the next few terms the Sustainability group will be making items to sell made from items that might go to landfill. They are currently making purses from tetra boxes. If you think you may have some items that could be used to make something for our stall (such as beads, buttons, fabric, wool or something else) we would love to hear from you. The money raised from the stall will go towards implementing our Frog bog.
