Performing Arts Highlights 

Choir Program Workshop 

Our Choir students recently took part in another engaging and free educational workshop delivered by the Australian School of Performing Arts. Guided by instructor Claire, students explored new vocal warm-ups, songs, and chants designed to help them match pitch and develop expressive performance skills. Through a range of focus activities, they built confidence with getting into character and developing their stage presence.

Claire also helped students get started on a new song for Book Week, teaching characterisation, breaking down lyrics, and encouraging them to have fun with their performance. The choir is very keen to see Claire again and hopes she will be able to attend their upcoming Book Week performance, which will feature songs from the hit musical Matilda.

The Main Cast of students for the performance appears as follow:

Student 1 - Sloane (6B) 

Student 2 - Isabella (6E) 

The Choir Captains; Sloane, Isabella and Saisha have already begun to explore and teach choreography for the songs to the students, demonstrating their leadership, dedication and passion for the musical.  The students will hopefully perform at the Year F-2 Assembly and the Year 3-6 Assembly during August for Book Week.  

Melbourne Symphony Orchestra Incursion

On behalf of the Hume City Council, Aitken Hill Primary School has been fortunate enough to receive a FREE workshop from the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra: Jams for Schools for 2026. This will occur on Tuesday, August 18th. There will be 3 sessions to which your child’s class/cohort will attend in the GYM for 45mins. 

"MSO Artist in Residence and leading music education specialist, Karen Kyriakou and six MSO musicians will come to your school and lead fun and interactive workshops exploring a piece of orchestral music, pulling out musical themes and compositional techniques. We’ll bring everything, even some percussion instruments for students to jam with us! And it’s all completely free!”
