A message from Margie

'All In' for Reconciliation Week!
We are so thrilled with this year's Reconciliation Week. Last week was a rich and meaningful week of learning, truth-telling and Reconciliation action at our school, staying true to this year's National Reconciliaition theme 'All In. On National Sorry Day, we were honoured to welcome ‘Auntie Ros’ Cameron, who movingly shared her personal experience of being taken from her mother as part of the Stolen Generations. Auntie Ros spoke to our students with such warmth and gentleness, demonstrating great strength and resilience as she recounted her story.
We are deeply grateful for her generosity and willingness to share her vulnerability with us—her visit was both powerful and unforgettable.
On Thursday, we split the whole school into cross-age groups, and they rotated through 8 Reconciliation activities run by our teachers: damper making, dreamtime story Tiddalick the Frog, counting in Kaurna, Aboriginal dance, Reconciliation handprint mural, the Aboriginal map of Australia, rock symbols, and traditional Aboriginal games.
When we completed a staff reflection this week, we all commented on our students’ growing understanding and their ability to articulate the importance of Reconciliation action. It's exciting to see their growth over the years!
The week came to an end with a very successful Colour Run (despite the disgusting SLIME😝)! Congratulations to the Parents and Friends for such a successful event, and for raising over $11,000! Thank you to the volunteers and the CFS who helped on the day. Thank you also to all families for supporting our major fundraiser for the year.
Have a wonderful fortnight, everyone!
