Reconciliation in Action

RAP Team & Connect Group

St Paul Lutheran School

Acknowledgement of Country

At St Paul Lutheran, we acknowledge all First Nations people within our school community. We offer our respects to the Kaurna people and their elders past, present, and emerging and recognise their deep relationships to the land. We recognise that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples are Australia's first storytellers, artists, communities and creators of culture. We appreciate the gum trees, lorikeets and magpies we see on the big park and in nature play and commit to caring for and respecting these lands, just as the Kaurna people have for generations. We promise to protect and nurture the environment, ensuring it remains a safe and welcoming space for all. Always was, always will be Aboriginal land.

Reconciliation Week 2026 – Reflecting Together

As National Reconciliation Week comes to a close (27 May – 3 June), we take a moment to reflect on what this important week has meant for our school community.

Throughout the week, children have engaged in meaningful learning about Australia’s shared history, cultures and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Through stories, discussions and creative activities, they have explored the values of respect, understanding, and inclusion—key foundations of reconciliation.

Reconciliation Week is not only about learning the past, but also about recognising our shared responsibility in building a more respectful future. It begins on the anniversary of the 1967 Referendum and ends on Mabo Day, reminding us of the ongoing journey towards equity and recognition.

Across our school, we have seen thoughtful conversations, curiosity and empathy from our children. Whether through artwork, yarning circles or classroom experiences, children have shown a willingness to listen and learn—important steps in fostering a strong and inclusive community.

We encourage families to continue these conversations at home—sharing stories, exploring local Aboriginal culture, and reflecting together on how we can each contribute to reconciliation in everyday ways.

Thank you for supporting your children as they learn about and celebrate this important part of Australia’s story.
