Foundation: Mrs Fleming
It is hard to believe that we are already at the end of Term 2! The Foundation students have been busy completing their learning for the semester and are looking forward to a well-earned break!
Our Foundation students had an exciting time attending their very first Athletics Day last week! We were very lucky to enjoy a beautiful day, and the students embraced every event with enthusiasm and determination. It was wonderful to see everyone giving their best effort and having so much fun with their classmates.
The ribbons were certainly a highlight, and the students were incredibly proud of their achievements. Another favourite part of the day was enjoying delicious hot dogs for lunch after a busy morning of activities!
A big thank you to all the parents and family members who came along to support and cheer on the students. Your encouragement helped make the day extra special.
Last week the Foundation students proudly led their very first Liturgy sharing the beautiful message "Little Hands Can Do Big Kind Things". The students did an amazing job reading, singing and participating throughout the celebration. It was wonderful to see their confidence shine as they presented their Liturgy to our school community. Thank you to all the special people in our students live who joined us for the Liturgy. We are so grateful you could all attend. Well done to the Foundation students, they did fantastic job leading their first Liturgy.

Halfway through the year – the months have flown by!!
In English, the students have been learning about suffixes and how they change the meaning of words. They have also enjoyed extending their digraph knowledge over the past fortnight, challenging themselves by learning three spelling patterns (ir, ur and er) that all make the same sound. Our writing lessons have focused on procedural writing, which has been a lot of fun. We began by playing the game River Rock Hop before writing clear step-by-step instructions. Some of the photos of us playing River Rock Hop are below.
We have finished the term with our Maths unit on Patterns, and what a fun and engaging topic it has been! We have enjoyed exploring AB and ABC repeating patterns, as well as AABB and AAB patterns, using colours, shapes, and everyday objects. We then moved on to number patterns, both increasing and decreasing, and extended our learning further by working with patterns that increase and decrease by 10s and 100s.
In Inquiry, we have been exploring our unit Changes in Daily Life, which invited us to become “family historians” as we discovered the many ways families and everyday life have both changed and stayed the same over time. We have enjoyed learning about the different structures and roles within families and sharing stories about our own families. It has been especially interesting to compare our experiences today with those of our parents’ and grandparents’ childhoods.
We hope everyone has a restful break and enjoys some special time with family. Fingers crossed for some brighter winter days over the school holidays!
Grade 1/2: Miss Wooden
We were blessed with beautiful weather for the athletics carnival, and I absolutely loved seeing the students challenge themselves and cheer on their classmates. Their enthusiasm and sportsmanship truly made the day special!
In English, the students have been hard at work finishing up topics in spelling, comprehension, and grammar. They’ve also been honing their storytelling skills and creating informative texts that showcase their creativity and knowledge.
Mathematics has been an exciting challenge as well, with students diving into patterns, addition, and subtraction. It’s been great to see them tackle these concepts with determination and confidence!
In Humanities, we have explored important topics in History and Geography while also reflecting on grief and loss in our Religious studies. These discussions have fostered empathy and understanding among the students, further deepening their connection to these subjects.
I am already looking forward to next term and all the new adventures it will bring! Wishing everyone a restful and enjoyable break.
Grade 3: Miss Taylor
The last fortnight has certainly been a busy one in Year 3 as we race towards the end of Term 2!
One of the highlights was our 3/4 Interschool Winter Sports Day. Our students had a fantastic time meeting lots of new faces from other schools and spending the day participating in fun teamwork games. It was wonderful to see everyone getting involved, encouraging one another and trying their best!
The St Pat's Athletics Carnival was also another huge success! With the sun shining all day, our Year 3 students enjoyed a wonderful day of athletics, teamwork and school spirit. We couldn't have been prouder of the sportsmanship on display, with students cheering one another on, celebrating each other's successes and giving every event their best effort. It was also fantastic to see so many students achieve personal bests throughout the day!
Although we're all feeling the cold mornings and the tiredness that comes with a busy term, we've made it to the finish line! Semester 1 reports have now been sent home to families, and we are so proud of the growth, resilience and hard work our students have shown throughout the first half of the year. Thank you all for your continued support throughout the semester. We wish all of our Year 3 families a safe, relaxing and well-deserved holiday break, and we look forward to seeing everyone back for Term 3!!!
Grade 4/5: Mrs Stock
A few weeks ago, our Grade 4 students enjoyed their Winter Sports day at P–12. It was a great opportunity for them to participate in different sports, work as a team and enjoy the day with students from other schools.
Unfortunately, last week our Grade 5 students missed their Winter Sports day due to the weather. We are hopeful that the day will be rescheduled in Term 3, as it is always a fantastic opportunity for students to participate, develop new skills and enjoy some friendly competition. We are still waiting for confirmation and will keep families updated.
This week, our Year 4–6 students represented the school at the Football Carnival on Tuesday. It was a wonderful day filled with teamwork, sportsmanship and enthusiasm, and I'm sure it will be remembered as one of the highlights of the term for everyone involved.
We also recently held our Athletics Carnival, which was a huge success. It was fantastic to see students giving their best effort, encouraging one another and demonstrating great school spirit throughout the day.
As this is our final newsletter for the term, I would like to thank all families for your ongoing support throughout the semester. I hope everyone enjoys a safe, relaxing and well-deserved holiday break.

It's hard to believe that we're already in the last week of Semester 1. The semester has absolutely flown by and it's been packed with plenty of learning, exciting opportunities and memorable experiences along the way.
The Grade 5/6 students have really hit the accelerator over the last few weeks. In English, students completed and presented their book reports on Free Diving, sharing their understanding of the text and some thoughtful reflections with their classmates. We then launched straight into our Poetry unit, exploring Sara Teasdale's There Will Come Soft Rains. Students have been writing their own rhyming couplet poems and challenged themselves to include alliteration, imagery, personification and rhyme. The results were outstanding, and students were genuinely proud of what they produced.
In Mathematics, we have moved into our Time unit. Students have enjoyed learning about 24-hour time and applying their knowledge to both read and create timetables. One of the highlights was creating an 'ideal day' schedule using 24-hour time. It was interesting to see how students would choose to spend their perfect day if they were in charge of the timetable!
While everyone is looking forward to a well-earned holiday, we've also spent some time reflecting on the first half of the year. From camps and sporting events to classroom learning and special school celebrations, there have been plenty of highlights.
