YEAR 9 ADP 100KM CHALLENGE CAMP

⛺Pushing Limits & Making Memories
This Year 9 ADP 100km Challenge Camp was held from 27/4 to 29/4 along the Warburton Rail Trail, Victoria, and provided opportunities for students to develop their leadership and communication skills, along with their ability to work in a team.
Students were required to overcome physically challenging tasks (riding and hiking) to build resilience when faced with adversity.

Student reflections:
I thoroughly enjoyed camp and the activities we experienced. Over the three days, we constantly pushed ourselves past what we thought our limits were. I significantly grew as an individual, learning to be resilient and bounce back from hard times. I learnt the importance of supporting my peers and lifting them up when times were hard. I experienced significant joy and pleasure over this three-day period and took away many important life skills and lessons. I sincerely appreciate the selflessness and time given by the teachers, and the great efforts they made that enabled us to take part in this significant event.
While on camp, I had a lot of fun hanging out with mates but also learned a lot about myself. On the bike ride, there were multiple times where my body was telling me to stop, but I just kept pushing my limit a little bit further each time. This wasn’t helped by my chain snapping on the ride back, but it was still fun nonetheless. If I could do it again, I would.
This camp was very challenging and hard, but one thing that kept me going was my friend encouraging me and pushing me to keep on going. My favourite part was when we did the hike — it was a 12km hike up Mount Donna Buang. It was a really good experience, especially when I got to do it with my friends. We got a lot of free time when we finished the hike and the bike ride.
The first and the last ride were amazing. We had a lot of fun and plenty of stops to rest up, eat and drink. If I had a choice to do the hike again, I would definitely do it. We rode the Warburton Trail — 45km to the camp and 45km back, so overall this camp was 100km long. Once again, it was an amazing experience!
