ISP Annual University Open Day Expo Excursion – Student Experience
On 12 May 2026, 29 International Student Program (ISP) students participated in our annual excursion to the University Open Day Expo held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.
This excursion is an important part of our ISP program, providing students with the opportunity to explore future study pathways, meet university representatives, and gain first-hand insight into course options and campus life, in tertiary institutions across Australia.
Throughout the day, students engaged with a wide range of universities and education providers. Many were able to gather valuable information about course structures, entry requirements, scholarships, and student support services. This experience is particularly valuable for international students, who often need to consider additional factors when planning for further study, such as English language entry requirements, application processes, and transition pathways into Australian universities.
At Northcote, we strongly encourage students to begin planning early for their future pathways. In addition to excursions like this, students also have access to a variety of whole-school career activities and Career Expos designed to broaden their understanding of post-school options.
We are very fortunate to also have an excellent careers service through our career & pathway counsellor, Booma & Ms Solima. Since every student’s journey is unique, our school provides career pathway counselling, where students can book one-on-one appointments to receive personalised guidance on subject selection, tertiary options, and long-term planning.
The students’ feedback showed that the Uni Expo was helpful in building their understanding of university entry requirements and courses, and helped them explore interstate universities.
