Book Week 2025

This year’s Book Week theme, “Book an Adventure,” was the perfect way to celebrate the joy of reading, and our library was alive with activities all week long!

On Monday, teachers brought stories to life by dressing as their favourite book characters, while students enjoyed a special visit from our local member of parliament, Mr John Lister. Together we created colourful reading affirmation flowers to remind us of the power of books.

Tuesday took us on a journey into the world of Manga, where students learned how to read Manga, draw their own characters, and explore its fascinating history. Thank you, Ms Zhou, for sharing your vast knowledge in this area. During Break 2, we were lucky to host Elvis Vai( Year 10) for the exciting launch of his brand-new comic book, The Rag Tag Duo. It was so fun to see students lined up to have Elvis sign a copy of his comic.

Wednesday’s highlight was the fast paced “Where’s Wally?” race around the school, which had everyone searching high and low for the iconic character. On Thursday, creativity flowed as Ms Millard guided students in crafting poetry, which we proudly displayed on our beautiful “Poet-Tree.”

After such an action-packed week, Friday was the perfect time to wind down. Students and staff alike enjoyed a quiet moment with a cup of tea, a biscuit, and, of course, a good book.

As part of our Book Week celebrations, our Year 12 students worked alongside our Year 7s to create personalised bookmarks. This activity encouraged mentoring and meaningful discussions about favourite books, while also helping to build new connections across year levels. It was wonderful to see students sharing their love of reading and supporting one another.

Book Displays

Our library has been buzzing with colour and creativity this term, with eye-catching displays highlighting a range of events and celebrations. For Science Week, students enjoyed exploring books that sparked curiosity about the world around us, from space exploration to the wonders of the natural environment. Wear It Purple Day was marked with a vibrant display of stories that celebrate diversity, inclusion and belonging. Alongside these, we are excited to share that our collection of classic novels has expanded significantly, giving students an even greater variety of engaging and thought-provoking texts to enjoy both in their studies and for pleasure.
