Futsal Success at Derrimut Sports Stadium

It was a fantastic day of futsal at Derrimut Sports Stadium, with our teams delivering outstanding performances and achieving a first for our school—both the Year 7–8 Boys and Year 7–8 Girls claimed their divisional titles.

Year 7–8 Boys

In the round robin format, the boys played every team once and dominated the competition with four convincing wins:

  • 9–3 vs Bemin SC
  • 6–3 vs Werribee SC
  • 12–0 vs Manor Lakes
  • 7–0 vs Al Taqwa

With a perfect record, they secured the divisional title in style.

Year 7–8 Girls

The girls opened their campaign with a hard-fought 2–2 draw against Bemin SC A, then followed up with a strong 6–2 win over Bemin SC B to earn a place in the final.

In the decider, they faced Bemin SC A again, taking a 3–1 lead into half-time and finishing the match as 4–2 winners. The girls not only impressed with their skill and determination, but also showed outstanding leadership, helping coach Kaw manage substitutions throughout the day.

Both teams celebrated in style—capturing the unique “dragon boat aura farming boy” vibe that summed up the fun and camaraderie of the day.

A huge thank you to Mr Boseveski and Mr Rolevski for their coaching, guidance, and support. Congratulations to all our players on an unforgettable double championship!

Year 8 boys team Basketball

There was a noticeable improvement from Game 1 to Game 4. The boys played with great spirit, supported one another and represented the school with pride.

Thank you to the following students who played-

Munawwar Ahmed, Chayse Butler, Oliver Cox, Tyson Kinealy, Jeron Ochieng, Wisdom Shee, Benjamin Taroy and Emmanuel Alier.

A big thankyou to Year 12 students Max Grainger, Jamie Lockwood and Indiana William for coaching the boys.

Also to Mr West and Nicole Atkinson for taking the students out.

Year 7 Boys Basketball

The year 7 boys played exceptionally well. They won their 2 group games against Doherty’s creek and Baden Powell to make it through to the semi-finals where they fell 10 points short to Manor Lakes who advanced to the grand final. The boys came 3rd overall and the standout player all day was Kahu Kapene 7F.

Year 7 Girls Basketball

The year 7 girls were persistent all day and focused on perfecting their skills to score as many baskets as possible. They unfortunately lost all 4 of their games however showed incredible progress from not scoring in game 1 to narrowly losing 16-20 in their last game. The standout player for the girls was Nancy Ata 7F.

Overall it was an excellent day out and all the students had plenty of fun!

Girls U16 Rugby - Strong Effort Against Springside West and St Albans

Our Wyndham Central College Girls U16 Rugby team showed tremendous grit and heart in their recent matches against Springside West and St Albans. Despite going down narrowly in both games by just a single try, the girls displayed determination, courage, and a growing sense of teamwork that deserves to be celebrated.

For many of our players, these games were among their first experiences of competitive rugby. Yet from the opening whistle they stood tall, fronted up against strong opposition, and played with pride for one another. There were moments of brilliance as the team began to gel;  powerful runs that broke through defensive lines, huge tackles that lifted team spirit, and some truly exciting tries that reflected the potential of this young squad.

Although the final scores did not fall our way, the closeness of both contests is a testament to the team’s resilience and progress. Most importantly, the girls walked off the field with their heads held high, knowing they gave their best effort and left everything out there.

With each game, their confidence and cohesion continue to grow. The future is bright for our Girls U16 Rugby team, and we look forward to seeing them build on these strong foundations in the matches ahead.

Thanks to coach Mr Perdana.
