Year 8 & 9

Assistant Principal's Report

I am quite sure this addition will be full of the many extracurricular activities that have been occurring in and around the school in the last month. There certainly has been a lot to celebrate with Science Week, Book Week and Wear it Purple Day. It has been terrific to see so many staff and students get involved in all the engaging break time and after school programs.

We continue to invite all parents and carers to take part in the Parent Opinion Survey. Your feedback is vital in helping us understand what we are doing well and where we can improve. The survey is confidential, doesn’t take too long to complete, and provides us with valuable insights that guide school planning and decision-making. By sharing your experiences, you are helping us create the best possible learning environment for every student. We greatly appreciate your time and contribution. If you have not received your log in code, please contact the school office.

We look forward to seeing you soon at Parent / Teacher / Student Conferences (September 16th). Parent / Teacher Interviews are a wonderful opportunity to celebrate your child’s achievements, discuss their progress, and work together to support their learning journey. We encourage all parents and carers to attend and engage in these valuable conversations with teachers. Your involvement shows students that their education is a shared priority and helps strengthen the partnership between home and school. Bookings can be made via booking Compass link and we look forward to seeing you there. Please contact the school if you need any assistance with this.

Thank you for reading,

Year Level Leader's Report Year 8

Term three was filled to the brim with activities and events.

Our community is rich with diversity, and during week 3 of term 3 we celebrated the many cultures that make up our college. Students participated in activities, performances, and events that highlight the traditions, food, and stories from around the world. Well done to all the students and staff who participated and made this a truly celebratory week.

Week four was National Science Week and students were able explore the wonders of science through interactive sessions, experiments, and displays. This was a fantastic opportunity to spark curiosity and encourage innovation across all year levels. A special shout out to Haadia Majid who completed a comprehensive and captivating presentation on immunology.

Celebrating the joy of reading, book week in week five included themed activities, storytelling, and creative events designed to inspire a lifelong love of books and literature. Well done to all the staff who dressed up on the Monday!

Last week we had project Rockit present to the year 8’s Project Rockit is an Australian youth-driven movement against bullying, hate and prejudice. They empower school students to challenge bullying in school, online and beyond.

In our last week of term three we had our parent student teacher conferences. These meetings provide an important opportunity to discuss student progress and strengthen the partnership between home and school. It was great to see so many families at school. There was also a sausage sizzle organised by Ms Sandlant who was very brave to serve fairy floss on such a windy day.

Our end of term three tutor group winners was 8E and will have a pizza lunch as a prize. Well done 8E!!

Please enjoy your holidays and enjoy a restful break.

Best wishes from all the year eight team.
