Specialist Feature News - Indonesian
Selamat Siang semuanya,
Last week in Indonesian we were treated with a special visit from Indonesian Community members Bu Ningsih (Bu Yana's Mum) and Bu Murianti (an ex MPRPS student!). They performed and shared about Indonesian culture through dance rotations for all of the year levels. Terima Kasih banyak Bu Ningsih dan Bu Murianti for this valuable visit!
Some 5/6 students participated in our Indonesia Nusantara Parade at Assembly, showcasing special outfits from all over the Indonesian Archipelago. It was wonderful to see students engaging respectfully with another culture and being open to learning about a different culture and customs. We noticed the difference in materials used in Java, head dresses used in Bali and the grass skirts and shell materials used in Eastern Indonesia and Papua.
In the Senior School our 3/4 students have completed and uploaded their incredible 'Beyond Bali 'travel brochures, where they explored Sulawesi, Java or the Komodo Islands. The 5/6 students have been learning about Indonesian Independence Day activities and designing their own "Garuda Pancasila" Coat of Arms.
In the Junior School, the 1/2s have been learning about "Besar" (big) and "Kecil" (small) and categorising objects that are Besar dan Kecil. Foundations have continued to explore different customs and costumes of Indonesia, connecting to their own experiences and families.
