Mixed Recycling Bins

In some exciting sustainability news, we have started trialing mixed recycling bins at SMPS!

This means materials like hard plastic, metal cans and glass can be saved from landfill and instead turned into new items.

The bins are located in staff areas and near Year 4, 5 and 6 classrooms, and might be rolled out across the school in the future if the trial goes well.

Litter Investigation

When learning about waste last term, 3A wrote a letter to Mr Noel to share that they had found lots of litter on the forecourt, and to share some possible solutions.

3A have now begun investigating the litter in the forecourt, by collecting it twice a week and counting how much there is. At the end of the investigation, they will discuss some possible solutions.

In their first collection last week, 3A found 161 pieces of litter on the forecourt.

They would like to remind everyone using the forecourt to please help keep it clean by putting any rubbish in the big silver bin near the entry to the school. Thank you for your help!
