This week, the Prep students have been building their teamwork skills through collaborative art activities. We discussed skills such as sharing ideas respectfully, planning together, negotiating and compromising, and using encouraging and supportive language. Students were placed into random groups and given a simple prompt: draw a picture using coloured pencils. Each group worked together to decide what to draw and how to share the tasks. The students created beautiful, imaginative artworks—but I was even more impressed by their amazing teamwork. Great job, Preps!

Physical Education (Years 1 and 2)

This week in PE, we practised our second lesson of basketball. We focused on dribbling the ball and being able to cross-over the ball between our hands. We played a fun warm up passing game, practicing our passes from last week's lesson. We had to pass the ball 30 times with bounce, chest, overhead and overarm passes. After, we worked in pairs dribbling the ball, trying to lose our partner by twisting and turning when dribbling with the ball. Finally, we practised some dribbling techniques in some relay races! We had lots of fun this week in PE practicing our dribbling skills.

Performing Arts (Years 3 and 4)

Year 3 and 4 students have been exploring the exciting world of drama! This week, they began learning about different drama styles, including melodrama. Studentshave developed their characters to show big emotions, exaggerated movement and dramatic voices to bring their characters to life. They also worked on short performances by sharing their scenes with their peers. It has been wonderful to see their confidence and creativity growing each week!

Environmental Education (Years 5 and 6)

Year 5 and 6 students have been learning about waste and recycling this term. They have learnt about which bin different materials go in, and what happens to waste after it goes in the bin. They have been learning about the impact of waste on the environment. Students learnt about reduce, reuse and recycle (the three R's), and why reduce has the most impact. They designed a waste free lunchbox, which is one way of reducing waste!
