Miss Langley - Senior Classroom Teacher

In Literacy, we are starting to finalize our information reports on Iron. The students have done an excellent job of creating their body paragraphs using notes that they have taken. Note taking has been a skill that we have focused on in the senior classroom as this is an essential skill for their future learning. We have focused primarily on vocabulary and broadening the vocabulary that they are using in their writing and placing emphasis on the words selected to convey meaning.

In Mathematics, we have started to look at decimals, particularly this week we have focused on how to partition a decimal. To partition something means to pull it apart. We have focused on two forms of partitioning or expansion. One being standard expansion where numbers are partitioned into their place value houses and non-standard expansion where numbers can be split into their place value houses or more flexibly - meaning there are many more answers with non-standard expansion.
