Child safety “Bullying. No Way!”
At Leighland Christian School, we believe that every child deserves to feel safe, seen, and free to learn without fear. Bullying shatters that sense of safety: it isolates, silences, and can leave deep emotional marks. The good news: families, schools, and young people can act together to prevent it and respond early and effectively.
What “Bullying. No Way!” offers families, schools, and young people.
"Bullying. No Way!" is Australia’s trusted, government-backed hub for evidence-informed guidance on understanding, preventing, and responding to bullying. It provides practical resources tailored for young people, families, and schools; all focused on building safe, inclusive learning environments, and demonstrating how to act when bullying occurs.
"Bullying. No Way!" week is Australia’s key school-based bullying prevention initiative. The 2025 theme, “Be bold. Be kind. Speak up”, highlights that everyone has a role: say something, support someone, and take a stand. The week unites schools and communities nationwide to build a shared understanding, and strengthen prevention and response strategies. The "Bullying. No Way!" website has information for families and students: https://bullyingnoway.gov.au/
From 11 to 15 August 2025, "Bullying. No Way!": National Week of Action, put a spotlight on practical steps schools and families can take together. Bullying isn’t a one-off conflict, it’s repeated, targeted behaviour that causes harm. It can be:
Physical: pushing, tripping, hitting.
Verbal: name-calling, threats, slurs.
Social/relational: exclusion, rumours, humiliation.
Online: harassment, sharing private images, impersonation.
At Leighland Christian School, we understand that bullying undermines safety and belonging. Left unattended, bullying can affect mental health, learning and participation. If your child is struggling with bullying, please reach out to your child’s teacher.
