Dear Students, Parents, and Guardians,

This term, BHGHS continues to be hive of activity. Our students are abuzz with learning and leading.

Learning

The XL501 Maximising Me Program has begun for Year 10. This program is designed with the specific goal of equipping our students with a range of study techniques and learning skills that they can use as they ready themselves to face the demands of Senior School.

The program also enables students to attempt HSC Minimum Standards Tests and to complete All My Own Work requirements in preparedness for Stage 6.

A number of our Year 12 students have successfully completed or are in the process of completing major works for Textiles and Design, Visual Arts, Extension History and English Extension 2.

Our Junior Gifted and Talented Classes have been experimenting with 3D Printing, using TinkerCAD software to 3D Model a number of items including a prosthetic limb, space modules and fixtures to be used in a model display house which is designed to fit a specific scenario.

Year 12 have also completed their Trial Exams, with Year 11 Exams set to begin on the 8th of September.

Leading

Our Student Representative Council is in their final weeks of current office with SRC elections to be held for 2026 Student Representative Council next week. On behalf of Ms Antoniadis, Ms Iemma and the entire school community, we thank the 2025 SRC for their service. They have been great ambassadors for our school and have continued the proud tradition of leading through service and with integrity.

SRC are currently working on an RUOK? Day initiative for Week 8. Recently, they held an Afternoon Tea for our cleaning staff, to express, on behalf of the entire student body, their appreciation and gratitude for all that our cleaners do to make our learning environment so beautiful.

Finally, a note on Kindness

I have long considered Beverly Hills Girls High School to be a truly special place to learn and grow, for students and staff alike. One of our behaviour expectations is that our students are to Be Somebody who treats everyone with care, empathy and kindness. With this in mind, I want to take this opportunity to share a snapshot of some acts of

kindness that has recently been observed, so that our school community can better understand the true beauty that exists here.

Observations of kindness include:

  • A Year 8 student walking back, against a crowd of students and in heavy rain, to share an umbrella with a teacher whom they knew was heading in the same direction as they were.
  • One of our students suffered the loss of a family member. A while later, it was her birthday and a group of her friends ensured they didn’t let the day pass without making it special for her. They prepared some treats, invited staff and held a little gathering for her, reminding her of how valued and loved she is.
  • A teacher was walking through the corridor between classes, struggling to carry a number of items. At least four students from different years approached her to help.

These instances are but three from an extensive list that I could share. I hope it serves as a reminder of the power of kindness and to encourage all in our community to be that little bit kinder to one another.

Warm regards,

Candice Byrnes,

Rel. Deputy Principal Beverly Hills Girls High School
