WELLBEING TEAM

Message from the Wellbeing Team

Earlier this term, as part of Bullying No Way week, all students participated in Kids Helpline’s Largest Anti-Bullying lesson. The theme for 2025 is 'Be bold. Be kind. Speak up.' We learnt the difference between bullying and conflict. We also learnt that it’s up to all of us to be bold and say something, be kind and support someone, and be proud to take a stand against bullying. This includes cyberbullying. To help support parents there are resources in community languages Online safety for every family  | In your language eSafety Commissioner

On Monday 1 September, year 7 will be rolling up their sleeves as the wonderful team of nurses from NSW Health will be here to vaccinate Year 7 students and catch up with any Year 10 students who missed out. Parents can learn more about the program and give consent online at the following link: School Vaccination Program (translated consent materials)

To provide the best chance of success in learning and wellbeing, the first step is for students to be at school, on time, every day. Attendance really does matter. Research shows that even just 2-3 days absent in a term starts to have a negative impact on students’ connection with their peers and their learning. Parents can check their daughters’ attendance on SENTRAL (the same place reports are published). Call the school office for assistance to access SENTRAL. If you wish to raise any issues that may impact on student attendance, please contact the Student Adviser for your daughter’s year group by emailing or phoning the school. More information on compulsory school attendance can be found on the NSW Department of Education website on this link Compulsory school attendance (nsw.gov.au)

Some families in our community are struggling with the cost of equipping their children for school. If you have any uniform items in good condition that are no longer being worn by your daughter, please consider donating them at the front office. We can then distribute them to students experiencing financial hardship through the BHGHS clothing pool.

Our Wellbeing Team can offer individual support, small group interventions and whole of year group initiatives to improve students’ emotional resilience. Please reach out ask to speak with your daughter’s Student Adviser for any concerns or issues that may impact on their wellbeing, attendance or learning.
