Open Age Basketball Gala Day Sutherland Basketball Stadium

On Monday, the 25th of August (week 6), our Open age basketball team had their gala day against 5 very tough competitors. The schools they faced were mainly specialised sport schools known for their high training programs and wins. Despite the team's spirited efforts and commendable performance, they unfortunately did not emerge victorious; this did not dim their spirits as they continued to hit 3 pointers from every angle, defend and jump from both sides of the court and work together as a team to retrieve rebounds.

Throughout the day the girls encountered teams with exceptional skills and coordination, yet our players demonstrated remarkable determination, adapting to the competitive environment. Key highlights include standout performances from several team members with impressive scoring runs and strategic defensive plays that kept the girls competitive in each match. Despite the losses the team pulled through against more competitive schools and continued to display a close score for each game. The team’s attitude remained positive before and after the games, highlighting the importance of the fun aspect of the competition.

Although no high wins were left with the girls, a high attitude was, as the whole team knows just how well they played not only as individuals, but as a team. All the team should know that their attitudes and efforts were bigger than any score on the boards.
