Year 3/4 Learning Reflection

Oh what a WEEK!

Thank you to all the students and parents for getting behind the spirit of Book Week.

What a wonderful week we had celebrating! Our visiting author, Kelly Brodie Brown, shared her fantastic book The Style Secrets of Gareth McGreen, and she was so impressed by the thoughtful and curious questions from students across all year levels.

The Book Week parade was another highlight, showing just how much our students love books and characters of all kinds. The creativity on display was amazing — thank you to all the families who helped put together such incredible costumes! Keep an eye out for parade photos in our next newsletter.

Throughout the week, teachers and students created their very own  book-themed classroom doors – each one was unique and beautifully done.

Here for Core Literacy, Year 4 students are working on phonics. This week our sound to LISTEN for was /ar/ which can also be represented by the sound spellings, ar, a, al and au.

This week Year 3 students have been identifying, naming and describing the features of 3D shapes.

We have talked extensively about length, width and height and gone further with edges, faces and vertices.

In the area of number, Year 4's have been converting between fractions and decimals. They have also worked in the applied space for giving and following directions through the use of grid maps.

In just over a week, most Year 3-4 students will be heading off to camp. A reminder to families that you will find this Social Story on Compass. If you are yet to finalise payment please do so as soon as possible.

Teachers and students are very much looking forward to the experience!
