When Pilot Scott came in to talk to us I learnt what all the controls were. His company is Jetstar. He fly’s a long way. His gear looked fancy. He takes off really early and the type of transport he taught us about was an aeroplane. I liked the bit when he said he was supposed to go to Japan and he was gardening and he got stung by a bee and couldn’t go.

This morning at school Pilot Scott came in to tell us what its like flying an aeroplane. His company is Jetstar. He told us the pilots always have a special Ipad to tell them the weather and where they are going.
Paper Planes
After learning all about planes and how they have changed over time the students enjoyed creating and designing their own paper planes, even coming up with some very creative aircraft names! Once they were ready to go the students all went outside for a paper aeroplane race to compete against their peers. The students had lots of fun competing and measuring the distance that they travelled with Lou (1C) winning the competition!
Maths
The Year One students have enjoyed a lot of hands-on maths revising over addition, subtraction and number facts. They particularly enjoy playing a range of different problem solving games, inspired by globally renowned leader in maths education Michael Minas, to consolidate their learnings. The students could even teach you some of their favourite maths games at home.
